Cape May Elks Honor Manfre as ‘Citizen of the Year’

CAPE MAY – In recognition of Jessica Manfre’s efforts to aid other Coast Guard families during the partial federal government shutdown earlier this year, the Greater Cape May Elks Lodge 1838 bestowed its Citizen of the Year Award on her.
During the partial federal government shutdown, Jessica Manfre set up an emergency food pantry for those in need at the Cape May Coast Guard Training Center. She also coordinated all of the donations and activities required to meet these needs.
According to a release, her efforts were of tremendous support from the Cape May area, Manfre was also able to supply additional food and household item to the Atlantic City Coast Guard.
When the shutdown ended, all excess was coordinated and transferred to local community food banks.
