In 2016, 4-H welcomed the brand new Student Government 4-H Club, under the leadership of Beth Haflin and Nichole Dougherty, to Ocean Academy’s 4-H club line up. The club won a Mission Mini Grant from the 4-H Program Advisory Council in February to help get their club started. The Student Government Club joins a wide selection of clubs, including Silly Songs, Legos and Tap Dancing that Ocean Academy and Special Services High School students enjoy each year. In May, volunteers Sally Barry, Sheila Jargowski, Phyllis Pelham and B.J. Webersinn accompanied 4-H Program Coordinator Linda Horner to the schools to observe the clubs and award their Public Presentation ribbons. That visit is always the highlight of the year for volunteers and staff. In June, Linda was honored to participate in end-of-school awards ceremonies and present graduating 8th graders with special 4-H achievement certificates. Special thanks to Debbie Conlow, Robin Gatto and all of the teachers and administrators who continue to make 4-H available to these wonderful children!
