Cape May County Sheriff Promotes Explorers

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer announced the promotion of several Law Enforcement Explorers with Post 1692. Youths promoted include: Explorer Capt. Samantha Nunlist, Explorer Sgt. Patrick Vendetta, Explorer Sgt. Thomas Runyon and Explorer Cpl. Richard Morel.
Schaffer said, “These young people have worked extremely hard in helping direct and run the Explorer Post. We give them responsibilities that foster leadership and community involvement. They have been outstanding and I know Post 1692 will continue to grow.”
Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women ages 14 to 19. Law Enforcement Explorer posts help youths gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities.
For anyone interested in careers in the field of law enforcement, Exploring offers experiential learning with fun-filled, hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youths.
“Post 1692 has participated in community events providing traffic direction, first aid and as ambassadors answering questions. Events have included the 4-H fair, events at the county park and zoo and community parades. Also, they assist crime prevention programs such as McGruff the Crime Dog and Eddie Eagle for gun safety,” added Schaffer.
Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Superior Court Building and usually last between 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
For more information about Explorer Post 1692, call 609-465-1306 or 609-425-2645 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.; ask for Officer Erick Teasenfitz or via email to Explorer Post #1692@cmcsheriff.net.
