COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders is pretty sure that a Bunny sighting is likely at the Cape May County Park and Zoo March 19, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Kids won’t want to miss this rather tall and colorfully dressed rabbit as he leads visitors in a fun-filled day that includes an Easter Egg Hunt, educational displays, crafts and live animal encounters.
The EggstravaganZoo will kick off with an Easter Egg Hunt in the park at 10 a.m.  Children will hunt for those elusive brightly colored eggs that will be filled with sweet surprises.  The Park and Zoo staff are reporting the Easter Bunny is very busy packing lots of new and animal themed eggs along with earth friendly “biodegradable” eggs that will be hidden in a designated area of the Park.
After the hunt, participants are invited to stop by the various stations located throughout the zoo to do crafts, view educational displays, interact with the zoo keepers and experience live animal encounters.
Freeholder Marie Hayes, who oversees the Park and Zoo, invites the public to come to the annual EggstravanganZoo.  “This is one of my favorite events held at the Park and Zoo.  It is wonderful to see the kids having a great time with the Easter Bunny, hunting for eggs and being outdoors exploring the park and discovering the animals in the zoo”, Hayes said.   “The Park and Zoo Staff work hard to put this event together and do an amazing job interacting with the children to ensure they are having fun and learning about the animals”, Hayes added.
The annual Eggstravangaza, sponsored by the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders, is free and open to the public.   Visitors will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with the popular rabbit – so bring your camera.
The free Zoo, located in the Cape May County Park on Route 9 North, 1 block west of Garden State Parkway exit 11 in Cape May Court House, is open year round.  For additional information, call 465-5271, visit www.cmcZoo.com, follow us on Twitter or sign-up to be a Fan of Cape May County Government on Facebook.
