COURT HOUSE – Come visit the Cape May County Museum this summer! Now through September: “The Bride Wore White?” an exhibit of 17 wedding dresses from the Museum’s collection dating from 1873 to 2004 is on display. Most of the dresses were worn by Cape May County brides and show the wide range of styles and colors worn over the past century.
Thursday, August 4th: The Horseless Carriage Club of America will visit the Museum with more than forty cars from the early 20th century. The cars will be on display from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. The public is invited to visit the Museum and discuss the cars with members of the Club.
Friday and Saturday, September 2nd & 3rd: Founders Days at the Museum. Two days of genealogy workshops, displays, lectures on the early history of Cape May County, a book sale plus an old fashioned South Jersey Barbecue, with steamed clams, barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, Jersey tomatoes and more. Come find your long lost relatives. Tickets are $30 and include all activities, lunch of burgers or hot dogs and the barbecue, or $25 for the barbecue only. Saturday, September 10th: Art for History Art Auction at the Ocean View Resort. Fine and folk art by local artists and artisans including oils, water colors, carvings, handmade jewelry, photography and more will be available. New this year, quality antiques. Silent and live auctions take place throughout the evening. Tickets include hors d’oeuvres and wine bar. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Museum or online at www.cmcmuseum.org under calendar of events.
The Alexander Genealogy and Research Library at the Museum will be open selected Saturdays this summer. The Library is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will also be open on Saturday, August 13th and 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
