The Cape May County Health Department, in conjunction with the state of New Jersey, has presented the CEED (Cancer Education and Early Detection) Program in hopes to increase citizens’ chances of combatting the disease.
The CEED Program is a cancer screening program utilizing funds from the CDC, Breast and Cervical Cancer Initiative, The NJ Department of Health and Senior Services, and the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
Program services include:
Breast Exam and Mammogram referral
Pelvic Exam and Pap test
PSA blood test and Prostate Exam by Urologist
Stool test for Colorectal Cancer
Who is eligible for the program?
The Cancer Education and Early Detection Program provides cancer screenings to Cape May County residents who have no health insurance coverage nor Medicaid nor Medicare. There are some financial limitations. CEED screens women ages 40-64 and men 50-64. African American males are screened beginning at age 40.

Location:
The CEED Program is located at Cape May County Department of Health. The Health Department is located in the Crest Haven Complex at Exit 11 on the G.S. Parkway.
Hours:
The Cancer Education and Early Detection Program has two Monday morning clinics and one Thursday afternoon clinic for breast and cervical cancer screenings.
Prostate Cancer screening clinics for men are held on one Friday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. every month. Call for specific monthly schedule.
The CEED Program in conjunction with County Freeholders proudly presents an annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at the Cape May County Park & Zoo. The 2014 event was hosted on May 17 in honor of Breast Cancer Survivor Day, designated as May 20 by the state. Walkers proceeded around the park area at their own pace and received a free pink t-shirt for participating. Also, educational signage was posted along the trail and staff members of Cape Regional Medical Center and Cape Radiology were in attendance in order to distribute informational pamphlets on treatment and prevention and answer participants’ related questions. All proceeds from this annual event are donated to the American Cancer Society. The 2014 Walk will once again be held in the month of May.
