COURT HOUSE – Kate Washart, 19, of Seaville, competed recently at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup Contest in Louisville, KY. Washart earned seventh place nationally in the Individual Presentation Phase of the Competition, while the New Jersey 4-H Presentations Team scored eighth place overall.
Pictured here left to right are Kate Washart, Keely Titus of Burlington County and Angela Howard and Brooke Sutton, both of Gloucester County. In order to qualify for the prestigious national competition, the 4-H teens won their respective contests at the state level.
Washart is now studying biology and chemistry at Washington College in Chestertown, MD. Of her experience in 4-H, she says “4-H taught me to be a good public speaker and to have the confidence to present myself in front of a large group. As a 4-H member I got to travel all over the country and learn so much! I am very grateful for my years in 4-H and for all the friends I made!”
