A little girl or little boy enters a large open room with bright lights and walls covered with mirrors reflecting their smiles and excitement. They meet their new friends and are guided by a loving and caring teacher and his or her assistant. The music and movement soon begin. Welcome to the beginning of a glorious today and a forever wonderful tomorrow. Yes, this is the wonderful world of the dance studio and all that it cultivates in the minds and bodies of our children.
Joanne Reagan Dance Studio is now entering its 47th year enriching the lives of our youth through dance and the performing arts. Director Joann Reagan Horn is beginning her 49th year of teaching, having spent her first two years with the late Jeny Love Barber.
JRD Studio offers children’s combination classes of tap dance, basic tumbling and creative movement. This is for the toddler and preschooler. These classes are only$7.50 per week. Classes are available in all areas of tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical/contemporary, Broadway Theatre, gymnastics, boys hip hop and teen jazz. Now added to the diverse roster are contortion classes and private coaching. Adult classes are offered in tap and ballet. JRD has a diverse, experienced and professional staff of instructors.
JRD students can aspire to become performers through being a part of the performing companies. The companies of JRD are well known for their community performances in the Cape May Halloween Parade and the West Cape May Christmas Parade. JRD Studio was the 2014 and 2015 overall winner in the West Cape May Christmas Parade. The JRD Studio performing companies also perform at other community events and have performed at Walt Disney World, with 12 performances since 1992. Most recently in April 2016, JRD students performed in New York City, SIGT and “Standing Ovation, The Movie.” JRD Studio has received the 2015 Best of the Press Bronze Award for Best Dance Studio and has been voted again in 2016 for a Best of the Press Award.
Become a member of the family at JRD Studio, now teaching second and third generations. Join us August 23, 24 or 25, 2016 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. for our in person registration, where we take personal time one on one with you and your child to discuss your needs. Classes begin the week of Sept. 12, 2016. This year will also feature upcoming guest classes with professionals from L.A. and NYC.
