CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – For the past 22 years, Xi Beta Pi, a Cape May County chapter of the international women’s organization, Beta Sigma Phi, has donated infant car seats to Cape Regional’s Maternal and Newborn Care Center. This year, the organization donated Rockaroos to comfort our babies who are at risk for Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). NAS occurs when a baby starts to withdraw from substances that they experienced before birth. Rockaroos will help comfort the infant as they receive specialized treatment throughout the substance withdrawal process.
“We are so grateful to Xi Beta Pi for their partnership over the past two decades. This year, they are supporting us in our goal of bringing comfort to these infants who have been born addicted to either prescribed or non-prescribed medication. Their generosity and commitment to the health and welfare of newborns is impacting families every day,” stated Mary Beth Decredico, RN, MSN, Administrative Director of Maternal and Newborn Care.
Throughout the year, Xi Beta Pi has made donations for local Cape May County Charities and local families in need of assistance. Members of Xi Beta Pi are Maureen Bingham, Mary Conley, Dianne Day, Karen Fitzpatrick, Nancy Gill, Pam Gavenda, Carol Hartman, Lucille Ruddy and JoAnn Thompson-Rodriguez.
