COURT HOUSE – Cape Regional Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval ™ for its Wound Care Services. According to the Joint Commission, “Certification demonstrates a commitment to excellence in providing disease specific services in a comprehensive manner. Certification standards evaluate the scope of the disease, condition or service and a program’s effectiveness in using Clinical Practice Guidelines and Performance Measurement to improve clinical care”.
“Wound Care is a hospital-wide inpatient and outpatient service program. Measures for identification, prevention and treatment of wounds are included in patient care from hospital admission through discharge and after-care”, explains Judith Horn PT, DPT, MS, GCS, Certified Wound Specialist and Wound Care Program Manager. “Wound care, education and resources are provided for patients, families and the community. Joint Commission Certification validates our interdisciplinary and organizational-wide processes for excellence in program management and delivery of clinical care.”
The coordinated use of up-to-date, evidenced-based practice leads to improved patient outcomes. Non-healing or slow healing wounds impact quality of life. The cause of these wounds may be related to acute or chronic disease processes or conditions.
The Wound Care Service helps to support patients, families and other caregivers or providers throughout the healing process with care and information specific to the wound condition. Wound Care at Cape Regional Medical Center is certified by The Joint Commission and has been providing high quality services since 1998. Wound Care Services offer a therapeutic plan of care, tailored to the needs of the individual patient. From examination and evaluation, treatment, education and follow up, patients and healthcare providers are kept informed every step of the way.
