WOODBINE – Mayor William Pikolycky is pleased to announce that the Woodbine Port Authority has made three applications to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Division of Multimodal Services for three construction projects totaling nearly $830,000.
The first is to leverage FAA funding of approximately $1 million for the Apron Expansion project, Phase 2:
This upgrades the area currently being used for aircraft parking due to the limited tie-downs on the existing apron. This project calls for the enhancement of safety through the expansion of an existing transient/fixed base apron. The apron expansion will provide sufficient capacity for parking as well as a paved surface to enhance safety. Requested amount is $25,407.25
The second is for roadway expansion:
This project is for the construction of the first phase of a 4,425 foot Airport Access Road. This access road will connect the main hangar area to the south end of the airport property where future development would occur. The construction of this roadway would entail drainage and stormwater runoff components to accommodate the entire roadway length. The road will be properly marked to accommodate vehicular traffic. Requested amount is $233,474.81.
The third is for Runway 1-19 Safety Area Construction:
This project involves the construction of an FAA-compliant Runway Safety Area (RSA) for Runway 1-19 at Woodbine Municipal Airport. Construction of this RSA will provide a surface surrounding the runway suitable for reducing the risk of damage to airplanes. The scope of the work includes the clearing of objects to allow for the construction of a stabilized surface that is graded to allow positive drainage away from the runway as well as facilitating maintenance. Requested amount is $569,545.24.
“This will complement the ongoing construction that is taking place presently and serve to further enhance both our Municipal Airport and the Airport Business Park Complex,” added Mayor Pikolycky.
