The Wetlands Institute is planning exciting new ways to celebrate South Jersey’s coastal environment at the 30th annual Wings ‘n Water Festival, Thursday through Saturday, July 12 – 14, 2012.
The switch to a bustling July weekend from what had traditionally been a September event is just one new element in a completely reconceived festival that organizers are calling “Renewed…Refreshed…Remarkable.”
The festival opens with two days of activities geared to all ages and interests from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wetlands Institute and other locations in and around Stone Harbor, New Jersey. Amid a vibrant festival atmosphere filled with music and food, visitors will be able to participate in make-and-take craft workshops, play nature-themed games and races, take guided walks and experience hands-on encounters with live zoo animals and wildlife.
“Meet nationally-acclaimed artists and crafters. Set sail on a back bay boat cruise. Cast your vote in homemade soup, craft beer and wine tastings. Participate in a terrapin turtle release. Grab a paddle for a guided kayak tour. From family fun nights to a quilt show to an 80s themed benefit concert with M80, the fun doesn’t stop until you do,” said Festival Co-Chair and Wetlands Institute Executive Director, Dr. Lenore Tedesco.
The festivities conclude with a Benefit Auction on Saturday, July 14, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Wetlands Institute, 1075 Stone Harbor Blvd. For more information, or advance tickets to any of the festival events, call (609) 368-1211 or see www.wetlandsinstitute.org.
