WILDWOOD – Known for its bright red lips & mouth and eyelashes above the headlights, Dolly the Trolley – Downtown Wildwood’s free trolley service sponsored by the Wildwoods Business Improvement District – transported over 7,000 passengers along Atlantic & Pacific Avenues from May 26 to Sept. 18, 2011.
“We shattered our ridership numbers from 2010 this summer, despite several rainy nights throughout the summer and Hurricane Irene,” said Wally Lerro, President of the Wildwood BID. “Dolly’s ridership increased from 5,402 in 2010 to 7,181 in 2011.”
Dolly the Trolley provides free summertime transportation throughout the Wildwoods’ downtown district, located between Cresse Avenue and 26th Avenue along Atlantic and Pacific Avenues, Thursdays through Sundays from 5-11 p.m. Pick-up locations can be found throughout Downtown Wildwood at clearly marked “Dolly” stops.
