WILDWOOD — This city is the worst place to live in the state, according to New Jersey Monthly magazine.
In rating New Jersey’s towns, Monmouth University pollsters considered eight categories best representing the quality of life in New Jersey’s 566 municipalities: population growth, home values, property taxes, land development, employment, crime rate, school performance and proximity to services, according to the magazine.
Using those measurements, Bedminster Township in Somerset County was ranked No. 1.
The highest finisher in this county was Upper Township, which was ranked No. 5 and was the only local municipality in the top 100.
The City of Wildwood was ranked at the bottom of the state’s 566 municipalities.
Ranked somewhere between Upper Township and Wildwood were: Dennis Township, 113; Cape May Point, 117; Lower Township, 272; Ocean City, 276; Stone Harbor, 325; Cape May City, 390; Avalon, 437; Middle Township, 456; Sea Isle City, 457; West Wildwood, 479; Wildwood Crest, 482; West Cape May, 492; Woodbine, 531; and North Wildwood, 553.
