Wildwood Boardwalk Named ‘Top 10 American Boardwalks’

By Press Release

WILDWOOD — The Wildwoods have received another major honor this past week for the second year in a row as the Wildwoods Boardwalk was named among Sherman’s Travel’s “Top 10 American Boardwalks” for 2010.
The two-and-a-half mile long, beach-front boardwalk was recognized and awarded this honor for many reasons including being one of the kid-friendliest boardwalks in country, boasting more rides than Disneyland including world-class roller coasters and the tallest Ferris wheel on the East Coast.
The Wildwoods Board-walk also has over 300 eateries offering a wide-variety of foods to choose from traditional Boardwalk foods like funnel cakes, curly fries, pizza, burgers, cotton candy and ice cream cones to fresh seafood and fine cuisine.
There’s also the famous Wildwoods “Sightseer” Tram Car, famous for the line “Watch the Tram Car, Please!” In addition, the Boardwalk is jam-packed with shops, arcades, games and attractions.
The 38-block-long Wildwoods Boardwalk also provides a little something for adults with a Beach Club-style waterpark on one of its many piers and a number of Doo Wop themed restaurants, featuring flashy neon signs, celebrating the island’s rich mid-century architecture.
Sherman’s Travel is one of the country’s leading publishers of top travel deals and destination advice.
“We are tremendously proud of receiving this honor for the second year in a row,” said John Siciliano, executive director for the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority.
“Being named one of the nation’s top 10 boardwalks once again shows that the Wildwoods Boardwalk consistently pleases our guests and offers them what they are looking for in a resort destination year after year.
It is a great honor for everyone involved in making the Wildwoods Boardwalk an incredible attraction and the Wildwoods one of the country’s most family-friendly destinations.”
