COURT HOUSE – Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), a local agency serving the needs of the uninsured recently held its annual meeting and installed Sandra Gott, Vice President of Finance at Crest Savings Bank as their Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Ronald Goldstein, a local Dentist was re-elected as Vice Chair, Rita Marie Fulginiti as Board Secretary and Dr. Noreen Sisko as Treasurer.
Barry Cohen, Esq., of Linwood, Cynthia Harrison of Marmora, Patty Nesbitt and Violet Rixey of Cape May Court House have all joined the Board of Trustees. Returning Trustees include: Douglas Burke, Esq., Joanne Carrocino – CEO of Cape Regional Hospital, Dr. Judith Coche, Micki Goldberg, Rev. Joan Jackson, Marilyn Sweeney and Karin Wren. A special presentation was made to Christine Nicolau, outgoing Trustee for her years of service and dedication to VIM.
The primary mission of Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County is to understand and serve the health and wellness needs of the medically uninsured or underserved population living or working n Cape May County.
Dr. Elizabeth Crowley, Medical Director at VIM stated that she is “constantly amazed by the amount of care we are able to provide for these uninsured patients, strictly through the donation of time and money for which we are grateful to the community at large.”
Volunteers in Medicine opened on Route 9 North in Cape May Court House in 2002 and has cared for over 4,000 patients with more than 18,000 patient visits. In 2012, VIM will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary of “Neighbors Caring for Neighbors” in Cape May County.
