The Board of Directors at Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum would like to thank volunteer John (Jay) Goheen for all of his help through the years. The Aviation Museum is proud to honor outstanding citizens for their dedicated service.
Jay Goheen had an admirable 22-year career of active duty both as a heavy attack aircrew in the Douglas A-3 Skywarrior and in the maintenance of the McDonnell F-4 Phantom missile control system. After retirement, Mr. Goheen worked on the restoration of the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial for nearly 10 years.
The museum wouldn’t be the same without its dedicated volunteers. Mr. Goheen is a great asset to NASW Aviation Museum. He was responsible for building the A-3 Skywarrior exhibit at the museum, which has been listed on the A-3 Skywarrior Association website. Mr. Goheen visits also volunteers as a tour guide regularly during the summer months. He enjoys walking the museum and talking to visitors about various exhibits, especially the Skywarrior display.
NASW provided Mr. Goheen with a motorized cart which was donated several years ago. This makes his trips around the 92,000 square-foot museum floor a bit easier. The NASW Foundation is sincerely appreciative for all the time Jay has dedicated to Hangar #1.
Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is a nonprofit aviation museum housed in an original wooden hangar from World War II, Historic Hangar #1. NASW Foundation’s mission is to restore and rehabilitate the hangar to its former glory, educate the public and honor the 42 men who perished while training here.
