CAPE MAY – Chautauqua at the Shore announced that it will be working with the Richard Stockton College’s LIGHT on promotional and content aspects of its upcoming fall program, Guess What’s Coming for Dinner? – The Politics of Food in the 21st Century, September 15-25, 2011, in Cape May.
In their desire to provide continuing education, helping to shape key issues in the region, and in keeping a finger on the pulse of tourism in the region, the two organizations have found much common ground.
The College’s expertise in hospitality and tourism management includes the successful and widely-quoted “Jersey Shorecast” forums, continuing education programs and private partnerships and are all administered through LIGHT. Cape May Forum brings enriching programs to Cape May County for both its residents, and for the vital swell of tourists seeking the compelling combination of vacation and learning. This fall’s program is centered on the politics of food, an issue vital to a region rich in farming, fishing, and all varieties of food-centric entertainment, and dining.
Formally established in December 2010, the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism (LIGHT) provides a forum for public policy discussions and studies of the gaming, hospitality and tourism industries in the region. LIGHT is housed by the School of Business at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, and leverages Stockton’s intellectual resources and community partnerships to provide independent research and outreach supporting gaming and tourism leaders and policy makers in the Atlantic City region, State of New Jersey and beyond.
Cape May Forum – Chautauqua at the Shore (CMF), is a non-profit organization founded in 2009, a consortium of the region’s organizations and individuals. CMF provides an annual forum where creative and inspiring artists, speakers, events and courses are presented, to further enhance the Cape May experience for residents and visitors alike. CMF aims to attract more visitors to Cape May, and to extend the visiting season, by integrating and showcasing the existing cultural, artistic, educational and recreational aspects of the community. The program is modeled after the well-known Chautauqua Institute in New York, which offers arts, music, cultural and other educational programs in an integrated campus environment.
