WILDWOOD – The Avalon and Wildwood post offices went green and celebrated Earth Day 2015 by promoting the wide range of sustainability initiatives available through the Postal Service’s™ Lean Green Teams. “Our Lean Green Teams work on the Postal Service’s™ efforts to help create an organization of conservation”, stated Avalon Postmaster, Melissa Lomax. “These teams assist our local post offices in their efforts to become leaner, greener, and more sustainable,” Lomax added. Wildwood Postmaster Bernadette Puodziunas explained, “Our local post offices look for ways to maintain sustainability by shutting off lights or equipment not in use and by trying to save money by finding ways to use and buy fewer supplies. We even find more ways to increase recycling, such as with our local post office lobby recycling containers, which state, “Read, Respond, Recycle Your Mail,” confirmed Puodziunas.
Along with being the Avalon Postmaster, Melissa Lomax is also the South Jersey Postal Customer Council Communications Chair. Wildwood Postmaster, Bernadette Puodziunas, is also the South Jersey Postal Customer Council Postal Chair. They were joined by the South New Jersey Business Solutions Specialist, Fran Dougherty and were all on sight at the United States Postal Service’s exhibition table during the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce’s Business @ the Beach Expo at the Wildwoods Convention Center held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 4 pm – 7 pm.
