United Methodist Communities at The Shores Appoints Dawn Zindel Tapestries Director

OCEAN CITY — United Methodist Communities (UMC) at The Shores, a senior living community located on Bay Avenue in Ocean City, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dawn Zindel to the position of director of Tapestries Memory Care Residence. In this role, she will assume Tapestries’ oversight, staff management and services, which focus on residents with neurocognitive disorders, related dementias or who experience difficulty with thinking.

Tapestries associates will report directly to Ms. Zindel, who brings seven years’ experience working as a director of social service and interim administrator in adult day care settings. She brings a total of 10 years’ experience as a social worker with geriatric populations. Prior to joining UMC, Ms. Zindel was director of social services/administrator at Atlantic Adult Day Health Care.

A Bachelor of Social Work from Marywood University and C.S.W. (Certified Social Worker) certification add to her leadership skills. Zindel formerly volunteered at The Shores while in Social Work School and her mother retired several years ago from a position in healthcare there.

Pamela H. Garofolo, corporate manager, Tapestries, stated, “I am delighted to see Dawn grow the programs and take what we have started to the next level of comfort and person-directed care.”

Comfort Matters® is a unique nationally recognized, accredited program utilized at The Shores. Its strategies are built upon the latest science and research-based best practices, enabling caregivers to make positive differences in the residents’ lives. Tapestries employs multi-skilled and certified associates, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, progressively trained in Comfort Matters®. Ms. Zindel will be responsible for supervising all aspects of Tapestries’ operations and for maintaining its Comfort Matters® certification.
