COURT HOUSE — A majority of 50 members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 152, who staff the Environmental Services Department at Cape Regional Medical Center, voted down a three-year contract Aug. 17, according to Claire T. Galiano, UFCW vice president, Professional Division.
She said 36 union members rejected and two accepted the proposal. Sticking point was a wage proposal by Crothall, which operates the division whose workers “keep the hospital clean and neat, and dispose biological regulated waste,” Galiano said.
Workers have been laboring on an extension of an expired contract since March. Next step will be to return to the bargaining table and federal mediation to resolve wage issues.
