Close your eyes and picture yourself in a beautiful tuxedo. Now keep your eyes closed and picture yourself shooting an arrow into a target with your bow.
These fantasies do not normally go together, but there is one place locally where you will find the exception to the rule. Fletcher’s Corner Archery Range is now home to Tuxedo Junction, formerly located in the Delaware Bay Trading Post.
Owner Sally Kanas thought at first that putting the businesses together under one roof would seem strange or not work, but she has been pleasantly surprised at how easy the transition has been, and how happy her customers are to be able to come out to the store and still receive her excellent personal service.
Kanas has been fitting tuxedos for more than 16 years and credits her father-in-law Bob with teaching her everything she knows about fitting tuxedos.
“There’s something special about putting a young man into a tuxedo for the first time and watching his first reactions,” Kanas said. “He’s excited and a little nervous about the upcoming prom or wedding and can’t believe how nice he can look.
“Most men will wear a tuxedo only two or three times in their lives,” she continued, “and I help them to look great. It’s really an honor to play a part in those special moments. It’s been a lot of fun seeing how tuxedos have changed over the years.”
Today, there is more selection than ever. Lots of choices in color, style, and fit. Right now Tuxedo Junction offers slim fit, modern fit, and traditional fit. Today’s pants are designed to be much more flattering to a man’s body, and Kanas’s expert tailoring skills help make them fit perfectly.
Since they moved Tuxedo Junction into the Fletcher’s Corner building, Kanas has offered home service for selection, fittings, and delivery for four or more in the wedding party.
“Working out of a groom’s home is much more relaxing for everyone involved,” she explained. “People feel more comfortable, and it can take on a party atmosphere. Again, I like the experience to be as friendly and fun as possible, and for those families that had me over; we all had a great time. The whole event became a pleasure and not just another pre-wedding chore.”
It’s very important that each tux returned is in good shape. So Kanas has promised that when a boy returns the tuxedo from a prom on time and in good shape, he will receive a free pass to come back and shoot archery. This year quite a few young men have already taken advantage of the offer!
So stop in soon and say hi to Kanas at her new location. She’ll be happy to show you around, give you a cup of coffee, and who knows; maybe you’ll stay awhile and shoot a couple of arrows with your new friends.
