CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Patricia “Trish” Burch, Registered Nurse on 4 East Medical Surgical Unit, is Cape Regional’s first DAISY Award honoree. Trish has been a member of the Cape Regional Team since 2013, first as a nursing assistant and then as a registered nurse.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. Cape Regional Health System is proud to be a DAISY Award Partner, recognizing caring and compassionate nurses quarterly with this special honor.
Trish’s nominee stated, “I had just received the most horrible news; my life was now going to change forever. I was beside myself, feeling very emotional and not knowing what to expect. Along came Trish…. at the moment I needed someone the most she was there to comfort me. She understood me and felt my grief. Trish provided what I needed at that time – her true compassion. She gave me the empowerment I needed to heal. Every day she told me ‘BE POSITIVE — the world needs more people like you in it.’ Trish’s spiritual side led me to greater hope. I continue to be inspired by the lovely Willow Tree angel and her sea shell which was given to me by Trish. Trish is a true inspiration and someone who holds the title ‘nurse’ with great respect.”
For many years, Trish enjoyed a career in Information Technology, working in both the corporate and healthcare fields. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management Information Systems and Widener University with a Master of Business Administration in Finance. In 2013, however, Trish made the decision to pursue a new career in nursing and fulfill her passion to make a difference in the lives of people. She graduated from Atlantic Cape Community College Nursing Program in 2014 and from Rutgers University School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2015. Trish and her husband, Dave, live in Seaville, NJ along with their family. They are members of Saint Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Marmora, NJ where Trish serves as a Parish Nurse and Eucharistic Minister.
“It is never too late to find a career you love,” stated Trish Burch, RN. “I am living proof! One of my personal core values is “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.” It is a privilege to work alongside of an amazing team of professionals at Cape Regional Health System. Thank you for this honor.”
