Three County Women Training To Become Special Advocates

SOMERS POINT — Three Cape May County residents will began training on Oct. 5 to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and speak on behalf of foster children in Cape May and Atlantic Counties.
The individuals are Bonnie Berkey of Court House, Ann Bauer of Ocean City and Catherine DeSantis of Wildwood Crest. The training session begans Oct. 5 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. and continues every Tuesday and Thursday until Oct. 21.
The training will culminate in a swearing-in ceremony on Oct. 26 at Sandi Pointe Coastal Bistro in Somers Point.
The 30-hour course, which takes place at the CASA office at 321 Shore Road gives individuals the necessary skills to advocate in court on behalf of abused and neglected children living in foster care.
