COURT HOUSE – The Center for Wound Healing at Cape Regional Medical Center held an Open House and Ribbon Cutting on July 21, 2015.
Drs. Martin Carey and Jeffrey Tenner have been appointed the Center’s Medical Directors and were available to discuss with patients how the Center can provide care to address specific needs.
“The Center treats wounds of all types including, but not limited to, diabetic wounds, surgical wounds that are not healing, skin grafts, wounds caused by radiation therapy, bone infection, and internal injuries caused by traumatic injuries,” stated Martin Carey, DPM, FACFAS, Co-Medical Director of the Center for Wound Healing.
“Every year, chronic wounds and other conditions keep patients from enjoying their best quality of life,” stated Jeffrey Tenner, DO, FACS, Co-Medical Director of the Center for Wound Healing. “The highly-trained clinical and support staff applies best practices, using innovative therapies, including the most advanced dressings and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, to help heal patients who are suffering with chronic and non-healing wounds.”
One of the treatments offered at the Center is Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy. HBO is a treatment in which the patient breathes 100 percent oxygen while inside the chamber. The increase in oxygen in the blood encourages the creation of blood vessels and increases the production of collagen, the body’s natural “scaffolding” – both necessary for wound healing. The state-of-the-art hyperbaric chambers are built with the safety and comfort of the patient in mind, offering high healing rates and reduced healing times.
At the recent open house and ribbon cutting, Middle Township Councilman, Michael Clark, performed the honor of cutting the ribbon and officially opening the Center. “The new Center for Wound Healing is a great addition to the healthcare services provided at Cape Regional Health System,” stated Councilman Clark. “We congratulate and thank Cape Regional for their commitment to provide the most advanced care to our community.”
