Taylor Honored By Her Peers with Nursing Excellence Award

COURT HOUSE — Joanne Taylor, RN, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Nurse at Cape Regional Medical Center has been selected among her peers to receive the First Annual Nursing Excellence Award for 2014.
The Nursing Excellence Award was initiated to recognize nurses who display exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism in the field of Nursing. Staff members submitted nominations by patient care area, and a panel of judges reviewed the nominations and selected an honoree.
Ms. Taylor was nominated by her supervisor, Kim Elliott. The nomination states, “Joanne Taylor possesses terrific nursing skills, all of which are vital for working with outpatients in the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center. Joanne’s communication skills, empathy and patience, as well as her positive and caring attitude, create an atmosphere of trust and commitment to her patients. Every patient is treated individually and goals are established and reviewed throughout the program. Vision, planning and organization are key. She utilizes her nurses’ skills daily when working with patients during exercise, observing reaction with each session and communicating to each patient as well as referring physicians. She utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving. She provides individualized education to her patients using her smart phone, handouts, and websites. Joanne is a change-agent for patients providing teaching and guidance to help them understand the “why” and “how” to make lifestyle changes as well as motivation to continue. She is an active member in Tri-State for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation to maintain current in trends of medicine. She is currently taking courses to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). In addition to her regular duties, Joanne regularly attends health fairs and community events such as the American Heart Association HeartWalk, and she is actively involved in communicating the benefits of rehabilitation medicine to fellow healthcare professionals as well as patients. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is passionate about her work which is recognizable when reading patient satisfaction letters. Joanne is an exceptional employee who delivers exceptional care.”
Ms. Taylor joined the team at Cape Regional Medical Center in December, 1995 and worked as a staff nurse on the Progressive Care Unit prior to joining the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center in Aug., 2011.
Joanne, and her husband, Rick, live in Cape May Beach. The couple has three children and enjoys riding bikes, gardening, swimming and vacationing in their free time.
