Sturdy Savings Bank will once again be underwriting the official kick-off of the Cape May holiday season, the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Physick Estate grounds during Holiday Preview Weekend. On Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at 7 p.m. Santa throws the switch for this festive event, which also includes a free open house at the Emlen Physick Estate Victorian House museum, authentically decorated for the holidays, as well as the opening of “An Old Fashioned Christmas” exhibit in the Carroll Gallery. This is one of three occasions this year that are being underwritten by Sturdy Savings Bank’s $6,000 gift. Sturdy is sponsoring MAC’s annual Volunteer Recognition Reception April 28, along with MAC’s annual Community Day on Sunday, June 12, when MAC offers free admission to tours and historic sites to Cape May County residents. In addition, Sturdy made its final quarterly payment of $1,250 towards its $5,000 pledge for the Michael Zuckerman Endowment for Collections. “We owe heartfelt thanks to Sturdy Savings Bank, and especially its CEO (and former MAC Officer) Jerry Reeves, MAC Treasurer Chris Shoemaker, Lee Robinson, Dave Repici, Michael Clark and Meg Tornetta for their most generous support,” said MAC Director Michael Zuckerman. The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) is a multifaceted not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation and cultural enrichment of the Cape May region for its residents and visitors. MAC membership is open to all.
