COURT HOUSE – Sturdy Savings Bank employees recently presented $9,090 – the proceeds of a yearlong fundraising effort – to Family Promise of Cape May County. Bank staff “adopted” Family Promise as their 2012 Employee Community Project and participated in payroll deduction and other events to raise funds for the organization. Family Promise’s mission is to keep homeless families together by providing them with temporary shelter and meals in church facilities. The group also coordinates support services for families.
“Sturdy Savings Bank is truly a hometown bank with a personal touch as this gift will touch many lives in Cape May County, says Laurie Johnson, Family Promise Director.
Sturdy’s annual employee fundraiser reinforces its mission as a local community bank. Previous recipients include the Coalition Against Rape and Abuse (CARA), Cape Human Resources’ food pantry, Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County and Arc of Cape May County. The Bank is committed to serving the needs of Cape May County and supports many non-profit organizations with both financial donations and volunteers.
