Celebrates Adopt-a-Dog Month
STONE HARBOR — The Stone Harbor Post Office and the Cape May County Animal Shelter will be celebrating National Adopt-a-Shelter Dog month this Oct. 9, 2010 at the Stone Harbor Post Office with a special, 2-hour only, postmark cancellation for the Animal Rescue – Adopt a Shelter Pet commemorative stamps.
Representatives and actual shelter cats and dogs from the Cape May County Animal Shelter will be participating as well. This special stamp cancellation event will increase public awareness about sheltered pets, encourage pet adoption, and promote humane and responsible pet care.
The United States Postal Service’s 2010 Social Awareness Stamps: Animal Rescue – Adopt a Shelter Pet will be available to purchase the entire day. The cost is $8.80 for a sheet of twenty 44-cent stamps.
Complimentary blank envelopes will be on hand for those interested in purchasing the stamps and receiving the special postmark cancellation to officiate the day.
The Stone Harbor Post Office and its Postmaster, Bruce Lavenia, will be distributing complimentary USA Philatelic Magazines, Animal Rescue: Adopt a Shelter Pet reusable tote bags, and Animal Rescue: Adopt a Shelter Pet key chains, to the attendees of this special postmark cancellation event; while supplies last.
