AAA PRESS RELEASE:
HAMILTON — At $2.38 per gallon, New Jersey’s state average this morning is the cheapest it’s been on this date since July 20, 2005, when the state average was $2.29, AAA Mid-Atlantic data show.
This time last year, the state average was $3.96, in the midst of a months-long decline after reaching a record-high $4 per gallon on July 8, 2008.

Across New Jersey’s various counties and metro regions, AAA recorded the following average prices this morning:
Atlantic & Cape May counties: $2.40, down a penny overnight
Middlesex, Somerset & Hunterdon counties: $2.40, down a penny overnight
Monmouth & Ocean counties: $2.38, down a penny overnight
Newark metro: $2.41, even overnight
Burlington County: $2.32, even overnight
Trenton metro: $2.41, even overnight
