COURT HOUSE – More than 60 business owners and entrepreneurs packed Middle Township’s recent workshop to learn about a variety of resources, including low-interest loans, tax credits, free marketing tools and more. The township organized a panel of experts from diverse organizations for the Business Resource Workshop, which was held Dec. 5 at Township Hall. The workshop was taped by the Cape May County Technical High School and can be viewed by emailing nsittineri@middletownship.com.
“Small businesses, the mom and pops, are the heart of our community. We want to know what you need and how we can help you succeed,” Middle Township Committee member Timothy Donohue told the crowd. Those attending represented a variety of industries, including retail, service fields, marinas, oyster harvesting and restaurants.
The workshop was part of the township Economic Development Council’s ongoing efforts to support business development, increase employment opportunities and highlight the areaś unique offerings. It included representatives from the US Small Business Administration, the US Department of Agriculture, the NJ Economic Development Authority, the Cumberland/Salem/Cape May Workforce Development Board, Cape May County Planning Department & Revolving Commercial Fishing Loan Program, the Cooperative Business Assistance Corporation, NJ Community Capital, Stockton Small Business Development Center, UCEDC and Middle Township’s Revolving loan program.
“We wanted to provide a one-stop shop for businesses to learn about the special loan programs, financing options, hiring assistance and more available to help them succeed,” said Mayor Michael Clark.
The panelists detailed various programs before meeting individually with attendees in breakout sessions. Following is a list of links to the participating organizations:
