When you walk into Simple Eats, that is just what you see – simply delicious foods. Located on Route 9 North in Clermont, this new store offers coffee, breakfast, lunch and treats for those who often go for the healthier meal option, or even for those who don’t. Whether you’re a health conscious eater or not, Simple Eats has a tasty option for everyone that will keep you coming back for more.
Owners Kim Hanson and Gabrielle Mulloy opened the doors of Simple Eats on April 2 with the concept of creating a comfortable, clean and friendly environment for people to sit, relax, work, hold a meeting or just hang out, all while eating homemade, healthy foods and sipping on organic coffee. Hanson and Mulloy shared that they wanted to have a place that offered homemade, healthier food options that still taste good and attract all types of people. “Many people are learning about eating healthy, but don’t know how to do it,” said Mulloy. The change is happening, and Simple Eats is here to help.
Hanson is a nurse who has been in the field for 14 years. Since part of nursing is offering people healthy living options, her drive to create healthy food options was a natural transition. She enjoys cooking, baking and creating new dishes, which shows in her passion for Simple Eats. Mulloy has been a dental hygienist for 19 years who also promotes healthy living options in her profession. Both Hanson and Mulloy’s career backgrounds made the creation of Simple Eats a quick concept, and one that became a reality fast.
At home, both Hanson and Mulloy have very active children that they try to live a healthy lifestyle with, but they often had trouble in the past finding food options in Upper Township to fit this routine. Enter Simple Eats. “We wanted it to be a place where we would want to come and eat with our families,” said Hanson.
At Simple Eats, Hanson and Mulloy take simple foods and make them delicious in numerous ways – hence the name, “Simple Eats.” For example, a simple avocado can become avocado egg salad or guacamole. Chick peas can become chick pea salad, hummus or chick peas and pasta. Even the organic coffee the store offers can be made into a regular cup of coffee, iced coffee or espresso. The possibilities are endless, which make for an ever-changing menu.
Bill Soens, former owner of Avalon Realty, starts his morning at Simple Eats every day. “I’ve been in Cape May County for 48 years, and I’m excited that Simple Eats has finally brought organic and healthy foods to the area. It’s been a long time coming,” Soens said. “It’s nice to go out in the morning and get healthy cuisine, which is something that has been lacking. For anyone who wants a healthier diet or alternative, this is a great place for it,” he added.
Simple Eats is proud to support local products, using vendors including Harry & Beans Coffee, Big Bad Dad’s Homemade Jams & Jellies, Cape May Honey Farm, Hank Sauce and Ginsburg/Amoroso Bakery.
Hanson and Mulloy’s family members greatly support Simple Eats, especially their husbands who contribute much of their time and dedication to helping the business run. With the help of their families, Hanson and Mulloy hope to expand and have numerous Simple Eats in the area.
