COURT HOUSE — Under sponsorship of Fox Rothschild LLP, in cooperation with the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce, a Paid Family Leave Seminar will be held Friday, Jan. 30 at Atlantic Cape Community College, 341 Court house-South Dennis Road.
The event is open to chamber members, with a $20 admission fee, will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
Attorneys Ian D. Meklinsky, who practices labor and employment law, and John Grossman, who represents real estate investors, area business entities and commercial litigation, will offere an update on the new law.
The state recently enacted the paid family leave benefit, which had been opposed by the chamber prior to its passage.
The benefit will, according to a release, “impact the way in which you run and staff your bbusiness.”
Beginning Jan. 1, 2009, a payroll tax will be imposed on employees to pay for the benefit. As of July 1, 20009, employees will be eligible for benefits under the law.
The law provides eligible employees up to six weeks of paid benefits every 12 months.
Those who attend will be briefed on their obligations as well as how that new law will impact other paid benefits and leave entitlement laws.
Those planning to attend should contact the chamber at (609) 465-7181 by Jan. 23.
