SEA ISLE CITY – Thousands of residents and visitors got in the festive spirit of the season by attending the fifth annual Holiday Extravaganza hosted by the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization over Thanksgiving weekend. Featuring a variety of holiday activities for the entire family, the event was held Nov. 25 and 26 at Excursion Park and offered free iceless ice skating, refreshments and entertainment.
“This year’s Holiday Extravaganza was a wonderful time for families and friends in Sea Isle City,” stated Chamber President Chris Glancey in a release. “We always look forward to this event because families have the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving weekend in Sea Isle City while enjoying the seasonal family fun, and this year was bigger and better than ever.”
Families enjoyed the iceless ice skating rink at Excursion Park for two full days. Entertainment was provided by Eric Aplet leading up to the Christmas parade. Following the Christmas parade on Friday, Mayor Leonard Desiderio was joined by his special guest, Santa Claus, to light the holiday tree in the center of town. The Sea Isle City Taxpayers Association sponsored hot chocolate and cookies on Friday night and Boy Scout Troop 76 sold hot dogs and popcorn.
Saturday featured a second day of ice skating, a dance performance by the Joanna Reagan Dance Studio on the Excursion Park stage, and cookies sponsored by Acme Markets. Shoppers hit the stores to take advantage of Small Business Saturday specials. While shopping, they were entered to win a Samsung 50-inch LED television, courtesy of the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization. Matt Signore, of Middletown and Sea Isle City, was the lucky winner and was presented his TV by Glancey and Sands Department Store owner Lisa Iannone.
