Sea Isle City’s “Community Day” to Take Place May 21

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – On Saturday, May 21, Sea Isle City’s residents and visitors are invited to participate in the municipality’s 2nd annual Community Day at the Sea Isle City Community Lodge, JFK Boulevard and Park Road, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event will feature activities, exhibits, demonstrations and family fun. And, when visitors get hungry, there will be a bar-be-cue luncheon, which will raise funds for the Sea Isle Ambulance Corps.
As people enter the Community Lodge on May 21, they will be greeted by representatives from numerous civic organizations, including scout troops, animal rescue teams, environmental volunteers, veterans and others. Plus, many of Sea Isle’s elected officials and municipal department heads will be on hand to answer questions about the city and the new county library, which is currently being constructed at 48th Street and Central Avenue. There will also be displays from local first responder organizations as well as municipal and county law enforcement groups, including the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office’s Mounted Division, featuring “Dodge the Horse.”
Members of the Sea Isle City Police Department will take advantage of the crowds attending Community Day to demonstrate the use of the city’s new parking kiosks, which will replace traditional parking meters in several parts of town beginning May 15.
Children won’t want to miss Community Day’s free face painter, and families will be able to spend the day at Gillian’s Funland Amusement Park, located adjacent to the Community Lodge, by purchasing $10 ride bracelets for a full-day of fun inside the park on May 21.
Also during Community Day, representatives from 1st Bank of Sea Isle City will present a cash donation to the recipient of their 2011 Community Partner Award. The name of this year’s award recipient will be announced on May 21.
“We give this award to local volunteer organizations in appreciation for maintaining and improving the quality of life for the people of Sea Isle City,” said 1st Bank President Larry Schmidt. “We are firm believers in giving back to the community and supporting organizations that give so much and ask nothing in return.”
