SEA ISLE CITY — During its annual Octoberfest event on Oct. 21 at Excursion Park, the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization will accept donated items for Hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico. The organization seeks to fill a 40-by-8-foot container to be transported by Polaris Intermodal to San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. Donations will be accepted at Excursion Park on Friday, Oct. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in conjunction with the event.
“In seeing the devastation in Puerto Rico as the result of Hurricane Maria, the Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization wanted to take part in helping get the residents back on their feet,” says Chris Glancey, the Chamber President. “Polaris Intermodal generously donated the trucking of the supplies that we collect and with Octoberfest on the schedule, the timing worked to combine a great event and a great cause.”
Boy Scout Troop 76 will assist with monitoring and collecting of the items from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Items to be collected include batteries, flashlights, water, non-perishable food items, diapers and personal-hygiene supplies. The container will depart from Polaris Intermodal’s base in Pennsauken on Oct. 25 and is scheduled to arrive in San Lorenzo on Nov. 3.
