The Sand Barrens Golf Club is a strong supporter and active proponent of the Cape May County Technical School District.
Their retail shop, restaurant, banquet facility and fairways offer job opportunities to help students gain real-world experiences in the related industries of Culinary Arts, Commercial Foods, Pastry/Baking, Business Services, Travel and Tourism, and Landscaping and Golf Course Maintenance. The Tech golf team is proud to claim it as their home course. “The team is appreciative of the encouragement, training, and professional consultation that have been afforded to them with their swings, golf strategy, and mental focus,” said Robert Matthies, district superintendent. “Memorable team banquets have been enjoyed with students, staff, coaches, and parents after the playing of the traditional end of season nine holes”, Matthies added. “For over seven years, this partnership has contributed to the advancement of a successful golf team. Cape May Tech’s student-athletes have experienced the challenge of competition and development of game skills, such as, integrity, courtesy, and perseverance in a supportive environment”.
The Business Partner program was started by the New Jersey Council of County Vocational- Technical Schools in 2001 to recognize an exemplary “business partner” from each of the state’s 21 county vocational-technical school districts for their outstanding support and commitment to students.
