CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Ryan’s Case for Smiles (formerly ConKerr Cancer) is solely dedicated to helping sick children cope with the stress of their illness and injuries by providing each child with a beautifully made pillowcase. While health care providers focus on the medical needs of the children, Case for Smiles provides whimsical pillowcases that give the children an emotional boost and remind them they are not defined by their illness.
“Case for Smiles of Southern New Jersey is pleased to present Cape Regional Health System with a commemorative pillowcase in celebration of our organization’s milestone of making over one million pillowcases for hospitalized children in 120 chapters across North America,” stated Sharon Cadwell, Ryan’s Case for Smiles of Southern New Jersey. “We are so pleased to share these fun and light-hearted pillowcases with the children hospitalized at Cape Regional.”
“The children who we care for in Cape Regional’s Pediatrics unit are so excited when we give them their new pillowcase. This simple gesture brightens their whole demeanor and brings a sense of comfort and joy during their hospital stay,” stated Mary Beth DeCredico, RN, BSN, Administrative Director of Maternal, Newborn, Pediatrics and Medical Surgical Services. “We are so grateful to Ryan’s Case for Smiles for their partnership and support.”
About Ryan’s Case for Smiles
Cindy Kerr began making pillowcases for her son, Ryan, more than a decade ago to brighten his hospital room and put a smile on his face during his cancer treatment. Case for Smiles has 120 chapters worldwide, and in seven short years, has delivered over one million pillowcases to children with cancer and other life changing illnesses. The ‘value’ of the work? One could say it is priceless! The materials and supplies alone are worth over $10,000,000. With every stitch, every yard of fabric and every pillowcase they get one step closer to their goal of helping kids with cancer and life changing illnesses, ‘feel better to heal better’.
