LOWER TOWNSHIP – Three Hawk Haven Vineyard vintages had the honor of receiving favorable reviews by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
The Wine Advocate is a bi-monthly wine publication established in 1978 by American wine critic Robert M. Parker, arguably the most influential wine critic in the world. For the October edition of the online magazine, well-respected taster and Philadelphia-based reviewer Mark Squires published the rating and opinion of Hawk Haven’s 2013 Viognier, 2013 Pinot Grigio and 2012 Cabernet Franc.
Hawk Haven Vineyard’s 2013 Viognier comes from 7-year-old vines, was aged in French oak and only 912 bottles were produced.
“Lush in texture, this drinks beautifully, with a little grip on the finish and fine flavor,” states the Wine Advocate review of the charming white wine.
The 2013 Pinot Grigio, an unoaked dry white from 7-year-old vines, was described as having “interesting flavors and the feel of a gracefully maturing wine” as well as “lively and friendly.”
The 2012 Cabernet Franc was aged for 20 months in French oak and comes from 6-year-old vines. It was reviewed as having “a real backbone with a bright feel” and finishes well.
“It is an honor to get reviewed by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate,” said Hawk Haven Vineyard owner and winemaker Todd Wuerker. “Receiving a positive review on our wines speaks to our dedication to creating amazing wines with high quality grapes being grown in Cape May County.”
