COURT HOUSE – A power outage, which commenced about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, was resolved by 5 p.m.
Early calls to the Atlantic City Electric outage report line were greeted with a message that crews were working on the problem and that power was expected to be restored by 5 p.m. In the meantime, the outage reports continued to climb, surpassing 4,000 affected customers.
With extreme heat putting extraordinarily high demands on the power grid and a storm system passing through the area, there was no shortage of plausible explanations for the outages. Shortly after 4 p.m., a representative of Atlantic City Electric reported that 2,225 remained without power and identified the cause of the remaining outage as a “feeder lockout” at the Court House substation.
The passing storm noticeably lowered temperatures, but folks were, nonetheless, relieved to have air conditioning – along with other electrical services – restored.
