WOODBINE – Mayor William Pikolycky is pleased to announce that the Woodbine Port Authority, at their Oct. 21 meeting, awarded a contract in the amount of $905,133.01 to South State for Phase 2 of the apron expansion project at Woodbine Municipal Airport.
This is the final phase of a two-phase project to better serve the aviation needs of the community. The first phase was financed with NJDOT funds of $463,100 and included tree clearing, utility demolition, utility relocation, pavement removal, and turf restoration.
This second phase is being funded with Federal Aviation Administration funds of $928,770 and includes pavement of the apron, tie down installation, and pavement markings.
The total project currently consists of a 120,000 square foot expansion of the existing aircraft apron. Additionally a new roadway located north of Henry DeCinque Boulevard, the airport’s main entrance roadway, with a construction cost $200,000 is currently out to bid. This total project comes to approximately $1.6 million. The airport is in need of the additional apron area due to an increase in demand from prospective tenants. The road will provide access to existing facilities and connect to the new apron.
“The support of our Congressman, Frank LoBiondo, helped make it possible to secure the Federal funding needed to bring this project to fruition,” added Mayor Pikolycky, “Without this funding it would have been impossible to undertake this project in its entirety.”
