CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Patricia “Trish” Burch, RN at Cape Regional Medical Center’s Difference Maker of the Year. Trish has been a member of the Cape Regional Team since 2013, first as a nursing assistant and then as a registered nurse.
Her nomination read, “Trish sets a great example for all team members and conveys her commitment to excellence by always providing compassionate care to her patients. We continuously receive feedback from patients and families about Trish, and they all use similar words when they describe her. We hear comments such as ‘at the moment I needed someone the most, Trish was there to comfort me;’ ‘Trish understood me and felt my grief.’ Another patient who was receiving radiation therapy stated that Trish’s sensitivity and knowing just what to do made her feel safe and gave her greater hope. This patient also stated that ‘every day Trish told me to ‘be positive’– she kept telling me ‘the world needs more people like you in it’. Trish is a true inspiration and someone who holds the title nurse with great respect.”
For many years, Trish enjoyed a career in Information Technology working in both the corporate and healthcare fields. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management Information Systems and Widener University with a Master of Business Administration in Finance. However in 2013, Trish made the decision to pursue a new career in nursing and fulfill her passion to make a difference in the lives of people. She graduated from Atlantic Cape Community College Nursing Program in 2014 and from Rutgers University School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2015. Trish and her husband, Dave, live in Seaville, NJ along with their family. They are members of Saint Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Marmora, NJ where Trish serves as a Parish Nurse and Eucharistic Minister.
“It is never too late to find a career you love,” stated Trish Burch, RN. “I am living proof! One of my favorite quotes is from Anne Frank, ‘How wonderful it is that nobody needs to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world,’ I try to live my life with this in mind. It is a privilege to work alongside of an amazing team of professionals at Cape Regional Health System. Thank you for this honor.”
