Ocean City is the latest municipality to offer a faster, more convenient way for residents and visitors to pay for parking
OCEAN CITY — Parkmobile, LLC announced today that the company will introduce its mobile payments solution to Ocean City. Motorists parking in the city will be able to use the app at all 1,800 on- and off-street parking spaces throughout Ocean City. By simplifying the public parking experience, drivers no longer need to search their car for loose change or check their watch to see when the meter expires. Customers can pay to park with their smartphones using Parkmobile’s app for iPhone, Android, Windows, Amazon and Blackberry phones, or by calling the toll-free number on the green meter stickers.
“The new technology provides another convenience for our residents and guests,” Mayor Jay A. Gillian said.
Ocean City’s meter rates remain unchanged for the 2016 season, which officially runs May 1 through Oct. 31.
Parkmobile’s mobile payments system is very simple and easy to use. Customers first must register either by downloading the mobile app in their phone’s app store or online at www.parkmobile.com. Once registered, they may use the mobile app, internet or the toll-free number to pay for parking. After setting up their account, customers can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone
“We are very happy to introduce our service to Ocean City,” said Jon Ziglar, CEO of Parkmobile, LLC. “Our service provides customers with an enhanced parking experience by eliminating the need to use a card or coins at the meter, making paying easier and more efficient than ever.”
This convenient service also provides customers the ability to receive alerts when their meter time is about to expire, extend their time remotely without returning to the meter, utilize credit cards in locations that do not offer manual credit card payments, as well as print and keep receipts for parking. Additionally, enforcement officers will be able to see that a motorist has paid with Parkmobile using their wireless handheld devices, so customers should not worry when the meter does not change. Parkmobile’s mobile payment solution is an added payment option and is intended to complement existing parking payment options. All existing forms of payment are still valid for use.
