By Al Campbell

WHITESBORO — “Start Spreading the News…” Ol’ blue eyes’ vintage car will be on display May 13 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Whitesboro Post Office to celebrate the issuance of the Postal Service’s 2008 Frank Sinatra 42-cent commemorative stamp.
The Whitesboro Post Office will host this event to honor the late singer and Garden State native, Frank Sinatra, whose career in entertainment was studded with accolades.
Sinatra won an Oscar, several Grammy awards, received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1971, and was recognized at the Kennedy Center Honors in 1983.
Born in Hoboken in 1915, he died in 1998.
The Hoboken Post Office was renamed in his honor in 2002.
Melissa Lomax, acting postmaster of the Whitesboro Post office and Angela Pakruda, of Court House, owner of Frank Sinatra’s 1986 Jaguar, will be at the Whitesboro Post Office, 207 West Main St. promoting the 2008 commemorative Frank Sinatra stamp from 10 a.m. until noon.
The Postal Service has created an event to tie in with the Frank Sinatra stamp launch. The Postal Store®/Sinatra Promotion.
Music and prizes will drive business online to The Postal Store increasing awareness of products and shipping services.
This campaign will boost awareness of the Sinatra stamp launch on May 13, 2008, and Post Office™ locations across the country will feature Frank Sinatra themed merchandise in stores and online.
A promotion with a sweepstakes has also been created to accompany the messaging. The sweepstakes information will be featured on the website at www.shop.usps.com. The sweepstakes will also be promoted at approximately 5,000 Post Office locations across American and online.
