COURT HOUSE — Cape Regional Health System is pleased to announce that residents of Cape May County now have access to top-ranked vascular care close to home through a newly expanded partnership with Penn Medicine. The new Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy Program will focus on diseases of both the arteries and veins. This includes aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, and deep venous thrombosis.
Paul L. O’Donnell, DO, will join the Cape Regional Medical Center medical staff from Penn Medicine’s Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy. Dr. O’Donnell will be seeing patients in Cape Regional Physicians Associates Surgical practice in Cape May Court House five days a week effective Oct. 1, 2013.
“This new program and expanded affiliation with Penn Medicine will enhance the level of care to patients with vascular conditions in our community and throughout the region,” stated William Hofmann, D.O., Outpatient Medical Director of Cape Regional Physicians Associates. “Dr. O’Donnell has a vast range of surgical expertise in both open and minimally invasive vascular surgery,” Dr. Hofmann continued.
Most recently, Dr. O’Donnell was an attending vascular and endovascular surgeon in the Inspira Health Network serving both Elmer and Vineland. Prior to that, he was a trauma and critical care surgeon at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. O’Donnell received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at the Ohio State University College of Osteopathic Medicine – Doctors Hospital, and his general surgery residency at Michigan State University, Grand Rapids. Dr. O’Donnell went on to complete a surgical critical care fellowship at Cooper University Medical Center and a vascular and endovascular surgery fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
Dr. O’Donnell is board-certified in general surgery, surgical critical care, and vascular surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Society for Critical Care Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association.
Dr. O’Donnell will be joining the Cape Regional Physicians Associates surgical practice with Dr. Jeffrey Tenner and Dr. Donald Tomasello.
