OCEAN CITY — The city construction team is working diligently to transform the barren vacant property at Second and Bay to the new Ocean City Marina.
Mayor Sal Perillo stated “After several public meetings to get local input regarding this property, we found there was an overwhelming interest and need to accommodate our recreational boaters and fishermen. The new Waterfront Park and Marina will be yet another amenity that Ocean City can offer vacationers and residents as well as maintain open space in our Bay area.”
The property was partially funded by a New Jersey Green Acres Grant. The city is also pursuing County Open Space Funds.
The new marina will feature 49 boats slips for seasonal rental and for transient docking of seven days or less. It will also have an area for crabbing and fishing from fixed docks.
Improvements to the area include a clamshell parking lot, green space with landscaping and shrubbery, temporary restrooms, and picnic tables. The project is slated to be completed in May.
A lottery will be used to allow boaters who have signed a contract and placed a deposit to select their boat slip. The date of the lottery will be announced shortly.
Boat slips for the entire season are available at the following rates: 20- ft. slip, $1,400; 22-ft. slip, $1,540; 27-ft. slip, $1,890; 30-ft. slip, $2,100; 35-ft slip, $2,450. Transient slips are available on a daily basis at $2 per foot.
