Ocean City High School Grad Named Programming Director

SEA ISLE CITY — Laura Layton, 2007 graduate of Ocean City High School was recently elected Director of Programming at Florida Gul Coast University.
In her new position as Director of Programming she is responsible for creating an enjoyable campus atmosphere at the university through various events and activities to be held throughout the year.
The Director of Programming is responsible for chairing a student board to promote optimal efficiency for event planning, implementing and service volunteering.
The Director must be certain to gear events towards all students at FGCU and promote involvement within the student community.
The Director of Programming serves as a representative on a variety of university wide event committees including Week of Welcome Committee, Family Weekend Committee, and Eaglepalooza Committee.
Layton was also recognized and placed on the President’s List for the fourth consecutive semester
This summer, Laura started a community service group Haitian Outreach Program for Education (HOPE). She is the founder of the organization and along with five other students in the College of Education at Florida Gulf Coast University, has started a summer literacy camp in Naples for Haitian students.
