Ocean City Featured in Coastal Living Magazine

By Herald Staff

OCEAN CITY — The May 2010 edition of Coastal Living hit the news stands yesterday and the cover story is “31 Best Beach Vacations.” Not surprisingly, the first two pages of the article are dedicated solely to Ocean City, New Jersey.
To develop this article the editor of Coastal Living reached out to the leading expert, Dr. Beach, aka Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, the director of Florida International University’s Laboratory for Coastal Research.
Ocean City is listed first in the category of family fun and is one of only three beaches that are noted as a “Great Value.”
The writer, Steve Millburg, notes that Ocean City, “has all the ingredients for a rousing good time: eight miles of wide, lifeguard-staffed beaches, a boardwalk lined with souvenir shops and snack bars, an amusement park and a water park.”
This notoriety comes on the heals of many accolades that Ocean City received last year including No. 1 Beach in New Jersey, No. 1 Beach in New Jersey for Day Trippers, and No. 1 Beach in New Jersey for Ecotourism.
Ocean City is completing an $18M beach replenishment project, total renovation of the city’s Community Center, and the opening of the city’s first public marina all in time for the 2010 season. For more information about planning an Ocean City vacation, please visit www.ocnj.us.
