Cape May County is now home to a superhero all its own, the one and only NJ Thrift Man. He will go anywhere and everywhere to find a lost or forgotten treasure to share with his customers at North End Thrift.
The NJ Thrift Man is spreading the word of his noble “Reuse, Repurpose, Relove” mission with YouTube coverage of some of his most recent rescues. Whether he’s making a quick Jet Ski run across Cape May harbor to salvage a lobster pot made into a dining room table or braving the threats of the forest for an antique lantern, NJ Thrift Man is on the case.
This “treasure” hunter also explores the theme of “remembrance” in his encounters with shoppers. “When you walk into North End Thrift, it’s really like you’re experiencing two worlds meeting,” explains NJ Thrift Man and store owner Pete Wilson. “In one place, you can find both the old and the new,” he states.
In his tireless search for “forgotten treasures”, Pete Wilson has been able to stock North End Thrift with nearly everything imaginable. In the main room, shoppers can browse unique accessories at the sprawling jewelry counter or marvel at the vast display of collectible coins. The room’s back corner is stocked with musical instruments of all types including lightly used electric and acoustic guitars and keyboards. Even various surfboards have found a home at North End Thrift. The store’s outside display includes an array of miscellaneous necessities including bikes, lawn mowers, strollers, and even large appliances. North End’s clothing room, library, and $1 room round out this variety.
But where does this massive collection come from? “We specialize in house cleanouts,” explained store owner Pete Wilson. At the request of a client, North End Thrift will arrive at the home with their trucks and a professional staff to sort through a home’s excess items and clear them from the premises. “What’s unique about our service is that we do not only clear the content of homes, but we also have a place where we can sell it,” stated Wilson.
North End Thrift also operates its own eBay store through which they can sell your items for you, or customers can bid on numerous of NJ Thrift Man’s most recent finds. Cannot quite find what you were looking for? Add your name, contact info, and a description of exactly what you want to the website’s Wish List, and the North End Thrift team will keep its eyes peeled to make that wish come true.
This family owned and operated business works with and for the Lower Township community in order to further the repurposing cause and provide quality services at the fairest prices. For more info, give North End a call at 609-770-8790 or visit www.northendthrift.com. The store is located at 901 Bayshore Rd, Villas and is adjacent to Crab Cake Hotline, home to the incredibly moist and baked-to-perfection crab cake by Vinny.
