On July 15, Holly Crain (nee Wetzler), born and raised in Stone Harbor and a graduate of Middle Township High School, became the new owner of Mouse Trap Lanes, 2051 Dennisville-Petersburg Road (Route 610) in Woodbine.
After marrying Al Crain in 1978, Holly and Al operated Holly’s Floors in Corbin City for 18 years. Holly and Al sold the business and retired.
Holly spent the next several years raising a family. Having raised her family and wanting to go back to work, however, with no full time work available in the county, Holly decided she might as well work where her passion lies…bowling. Holly’s love of bowling started early with her joining leagues in Wildwood and then bowling at the Mouse Trap Bowling Lanes starting in 1997.
Mouse Trap Lanes is a hidden gem in the woods where Woodine and Upper Township meet. Mouse Trap Lanes consists of 12 lanes and is extremely family and youth-oriented by offering the Family of Four Special which is available whenever there isn’t a league playing.
A new youth league will be starting on Oct. 2.
With over seven leagues forming, there is a day and time to suit all bowling enthusiasts. Mouse Trap Lanes offers group events, private parties, and welcomes birthday parties for all ages.
In addition to the bowling lanes, Mouse Trap offers The Trap Lounge for those who wish to imbibe in spirits. The Lounge offers five different kinds of beer on tap, and will be offering drink specials during all Eagles and Phillies games. Happy Hour starts at 4 p.m.
Flat screen televisions are located in the lounge and bowling center to keep sports fans abreast of the scores for their favorite teams.
Having participated in over 10 years of county and state wide bowling tournaments, Holly looks forward to planning many tournaments for the 2010-2011 season; for example, the Queen and Princess tournament which will draw from the tri-county area of Cumberland, Cape May and Atlantic counties.
The first tournament under Holly’s new ownership was held Mon., Aug. 30, the first no tap tournament with 49 bowlers participating.
First place was awarded to Bernadette Donnelly, second place Andrew Stewart, third place Dave Stewart, fourth place Jeanne Snyder.
Bill, Matt, Dale, Joe and Sonya are with Holly at the Mouse Trap, and look forward to seeing all the regular faces as well as plenty of new ones.
